What We Have Been Up To…

It’s been so nice to be back into blogging again! We are currently on vacation in Florida, visiting with our sister Alex, but we have missed blogging so much. Sadly, carrying out laptop around is harder than it sounds, so we have been blogging from Ericas iPod for the past two posts. We are so excited to share with you what we have been up to since we disappeared for most of the month! Here is what has been going on in our lives…

We started planning our trip to Florida about three weeks ago. Since it is a 16 hour drive and we take 9-10 people every time (sometimes our dad doesn’t come) we have many things to pack and prep. We spent those three weeks cleaning the garden as much as possible, getting ready for Easter, buying things and preparing for the trip, finding someone to take care of our farm animals and getting the house ready for us to leave. It was a crazy few weeks that flew by way too fast. We also had to get ready for our prom in Florida with our homeschooling group there. We had to get Nick and Ed suits, buy and alter our dresses and find all the accessories. Getting everything done was pretty stressful, and we didn’t end up buying Veronica’s dress until two days before we left!!

Once we got on the road, we stopped halfway to spend the night with some friends in North Carolina. We got back on the road the next morning and made it to Florida later that night. It was so nice to see our sister and two nephews again! (Spoiler alert: she is expecting her third baby! Baby boy #3… Will we ever have nieces?!) Lewie and Bassie have gotten much bigger and even cuter since our last visit. We went to the beach, have visited people, and gone out to our favorite places with them all week.

Now, for prom 😀 It was Nick, Ed and the two of us, and we had such a good time! We danced with our friends all night, saw a ton of our friends we hadn’t seen in years, and it was so amazing.  There were about 350 people and it was so cool! The venue felt like we were in a movie, and the lights and music were awesome. We have a story to share with you as well!

Prom Story: The four of us had gotten there a tiny bit late, so there weren’t many open tables. Ed had a friend find him a seat, so Nick and us had to find a different table. Veronica spotted two empty seats so we sat there, leaving Nick to find his own table (sorry Nick!). We didn’t know anyone at our table, but they were so fun! We soon spotted a guy wearing a white suit covered in, get this: white storm trouper heads. The Star Wars ones. Leila, a girl at our table, started freaking out saying, “Oh my gosh! That guy! I want to talk to him! I want to be his best friend! I want to get married to him!” And she proceeded to get excited because of his suit. Someone dared her to cross the dance floor and ask him for a selfie. So, instead, we all walked to the other side of the dance floor and our whole table asked him for a picture. He seemed a bit embarassed but it was so funny. Here is the selfie we got!

Next, we went to Miami, which is where we lived before we lived in Tampa. We visited old friends, stayed with our grandparents, and had a great time for two days, and we are now spending our last day in Tampa. We are so sad to leave tomorrow morning 😦

We are also in the middle of planning for our local homeschool prom in Indiana. We are throwing our own because our original dance is making some questionable changes to the rules. We have almost everything ready and it should be a blast!

Well, that is all we have been up to! We hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about our lives lately and you liked our prom story! It was an amazing night 🙂

Easter Past and Present

Happy (late) Easter everyone! Wow, this has been such an insane month. We know we totally disappeared and we are truly sorry, but we have had a mile long list of things to do this month. We will be posting very often again and will make a life update post this weekend, but today we really wanted to share something special with you. Every year, Momma buys us matching outfits for Easter and Christmas, and we always get a photo of all the kids wearing our outfits. That is her tradition. She always posts about our Easter pictures on her blog, and after taking the pictures this year we decided to have a whole post about this Easters picture and the ones from the past few years.

This has been our tradition since 2008, and we love taking these pictures. Okay, maybe some of us don’t, but they are so special and amazing. Looking back, you can see how much we’ve grown from year to year and these memories are so irreplaceable to us.

Here we go! These are all of our Easter pictures from the last nine years!

2008: This was the first year we took real family photos on Easter. You can see that the quality isn’t the best, but come on; this was so long ago!

2009: Olivia was born only a few months before this picture, and you can see that a few of us look a bit older. Look at her chubby little face! Olivia was by far our fattest baby.

2010: Ah, now you can see us looking a tiiiiiiiny bit bigger! Olivia, Chris, and Jp probably look the most different from the year before.

2011: This is one of our most beautiful group Easter outfits! Everyone looked so glowy in the bright colors. We miss the tans we used to get so easily in Florida.

2012: Wow, look how much bigger we all are! Again, the three younger ones look like they’ve aged the most, but we all look a bit older! This was the year that Mateo was born and Alex was planning her wedding with her husband, Lewis. Mateo isn’t in this one because he wasn’t born until September.

2013: By this year, Alexandra was married and Mateo was looking cuter than ever! We all look so much older. Momma made the poofy skirts in this picture, and we actually still have them to this day!

2014: We had just moved to Indiana this year and Alexandra took our Easter pictures since she is a professional photographer. Sadly, when your sister takes your pictures for free, she sorta forgets to edit them and give them to us!

2015: Ooh ooh, you can see how much older we all look this year! Mateo always was a bit hard to deal with during photoshoots like this; we could never get him to look at the camera! Poppa would need to  stand behind Momma, dancing and being silly so Mateo would look at the camera and smile! It worked for all of us actually…

2016: Aw, we’re all looking so happy in this years picture! Using bow ties was such a good idea; the boys just look so handsome in them.

2017: This was by far our best year yet. All the outfits look beautiful and we all look so neat and happy. This was the first year that Mateo could actually speak perfect and full sentences, Erica just got contact lenses, this is the first year that we have 5 teenagers in the house at the same time, and we actually mixed ties and bow ties for the Easter outfits!

Well, that is all we have for you for our Easter pictures for now! If you want to see the original blog posts that our mom made, as well as see lots of holiday and celebration pictures, click here! We will be posting in a few days about what we have been up to lately, and again we are so sorry for disappearing!

Mateo Says

1.jpgTo those of you who do not know him, this is Matthew. He has many nicknames such as Mateo (which is what he will say if you ask him what his name is), Matato (sounds like potato!), Matt, Noodles as an inside joke, Matt-potato, and many more. He is by far our family’s silliest child and he is always making us laugh somehow. He is a total charmer, loves to bat those long eyelashes of his, and is a super talkative four year old. He is kinda famous among our friends and family for doing and saying the funniest things. Over the past week or so, we have been writing down every silly, cute, or downright funny thing this boy has said. Here is what Mateo has been saying this week!

We were watching Full House in the living room, and cheerleaders were cheering on a stage.
Mateo: Ooh, those are real dancing Barbies! (we do not own a single Barbie doll so we have no clue how he even knows what that is!)

Mateo: Can I have pink milk please?
Erica: No…
Mateo: Pleeeeeeease? I’ll give you twenty bucks!!

2.jpg

Matt walks into the girls room with a cup of ice cream.
Erica: What kind of ice cream is that?
Mateo: Butt-macon (butter pecan)

Poppa likes to be naughty, and he sometimes brings home treats for us. Earlier this week he brought home gummy bears.
Mateo: Here Momma, have one! They’re not good for you, but don’t worry, they aren’t top sick (toxic)!! They’re just really awesome!

3.jpg

Mateo was in the way in the kitchen while we were cooking, so Veronica tried to convince him to watch a movie in the playroom.
Veronica: Go downstairs, that way Stu (our little dog) can’t bite you!! *tries to make it sound urgent*
Mateo: But Stu doesn’t bite, his mouth is too small!

Matt has an extremely good memory, and he memorizes his favorite movies and shows word for word. He also sometimes whispers in his sleep… He whispered this in bed very late at night while he was sleeping.
Mateo: Ow, that hurt my scapula! (He has been watching Jimmy Neutron lately)

4.jpg

Matthew has been watching The Goofy Movie at least three times a day, everyday, for the past week at least. He was watching the first song, “After Today” when it showed two Goth girls on the bus for a moment.
Mateo: What?? Why are those spies on the bus???

After wetting his bed by mistake, Mateo was going to sleep in Erica’s bed with her. It was time for him to get ready to go to sleep.
Erica: Pick a quiet toy to take to bed, Mateo.
Mateo: This one? *points to toy*
Erica: No, that one is too loud. Pick a different one.
Mateo: *points to Erica’s iPod* How about that toy? *makes sly face*
Erica: No no no, you know that’s not yours!
Mateo: But, it IS quiet!!

5.jpg

At the end of The Goofy Movie, Roxan’s dad comes to the door while wearing a towel and shower cap to answer the door.
Matthew: Oh no!! I don’t want to see the dad!! *hides face in pillow*

For some reason, Matt has recently become obsessed with randomly begging Veronica to smell his feet. It literally goes on for hours if she refuses, which she always does.
Mateo: Ronnie, pleeeeeeease smell my feet!!
Veronica: No!
Mateo: Please?! They’re clean! They’re fresh, new feet!
Veronica: When did you last wash them?
Mateo: Uhh, just three years ago! (Keep in mind that he is only four years old 😀 )

6.jpg

Olivia was standing in a weird pose and was moving her legs oddly.
Erica to Olivia: What are you doing??
Mateo from across the room: Peeing.

Ed at dinner: Who’s your favorite brother?
Mateo: *points to Nick*
Ed: Who’s your second favorite brother?
Mateo: *points to Jp*
Ed: Who’s your third favorite brother?
Mateo: *points to Chris*
Ed: Okay, who’s your fourth favorite brother??
Mateo: *points to Nick again*
Nick: Who’s your least favorite brother?
Mateo: *points to Ed*

Nick comes home one night after working at JayC, the supermarket.
Nick: I’m home!
Mateo: Nick!!! *jumps into Nicks arms*
Nick: Matt!!
Mateo: So… What did you buy for me??

Mateo went with Poppa to get his haircut. He was very excited.
Stylist to Poppa: How do you want his hair cut?
Poppa: *starts explaining*
Mateo: *cuts him off* You should ask me not him, it’s my hair! And, he’s bald!!
Poppa: *gives Mateo stern look while the stylist tries to stop laughing*
Mateo: *hangs head down in shame*

8.jpg

Matthew, who’s bed was STILL dirty, was getting ready to go to bed with Veronica in her bed.
Mateo: Can I sleep up there? *points to the ceiling*
Veronica: Uh, no??
Mateo: Oh, because I need tape to stay up there so I don’t fall?

We were all sitting down to eat lunch.
Mateo: Ahh, lunch is my favorite time of year!

9.jpgSide note- this is one of the cutest pictures we got for this blog post. Who wears pants to a photoshoot anyways??? XD Another thing Mateo is very famous for is never wearing pants when he is at home. We even have some friends who will come to our house and be surprised to see him with pants on.

10.jpg

We have a small wood board that crosses over the creek in our yard, and we walk across it so our shoes don’t get wet in the water. Matthew was crying because he was halfway across and was too scared to finish, even though this board is no more than 6 feet long. Once he made it across he was happy, but still very much afraid of the bridge.
Erica: Where do you want to play now?
Mateo: How about that bridge?? That bridge I’m afraid of?

After going back and crossing it a few more times, he got stuck again because he was scared, but he got over it much faster than the first time. We started walking back to the house.
Mateo: See?? I’m not afraid of anything!!
Erica: Oh, really?
Mateo: Yup… Except for that little bridge!

Well, those are all the funny things we caught Mateo say this week! We hope you enjoyed hearing these funny Mateo quotes as much as we did! He is so adorable and we love our little Matato so much.

Do you think we should do another “Mateo Says” post in the future? Which quote was your favorite? Let us know in the comments! ❤ 😀
